Who’s this adorable dog eating out of the Stanley Cup, you might ask? Only the St. Louis Blues’ sweet yellow Lab! If you haven’t already, say hello to the adorable Barclay.
Meet Barclay, The Official Dog of the St. Louis Blues
Barclay first joined the team back in September of 2018 when the St. Louis Blues decided to adopt a four-legged friend into their hockey family. Since then, this adorable pooch has gained over 76,000 followers on Instagram. Barclay apparently loves exploring the Enterprise Center, receiving plenty of belly rubs from staff and players that are around. It shouldn’t come as a surprise that this four-legged friend is also a fan of mini dog hockey – as he owns his very own dog-sized hockey stick and is often found chasing hockey pucks around the arena. The intelligent pup is not only a hockey fan but a fantastic assistance dog as well.
In fact, one of the main reasons for Barclay’s adoption was to bring more awareness to the impact assistance dogs make. These furry friends are trained to help individuals with disabilities and comfort children who have to testify in court. Duo, the specific organization they chose to highlight, breeds and trains puppies for this particular purpose. Barclay has been an amazing spokes-pup for this cause as he brings love and confidence to all those he meets.
The Meal of Canine Champions
After the St. Louis Blues phenomenal win in game 7, crowning them the Stanley Cup Champions, they’ve brought the celebration to all those in St. Louis, furry friends and all. By this, we mean the sweet Barclay was fed a meal out of the Stanley Cup itself, now that’s something to wag your tail about. The team was also proud to announce that Barclay is the first team-dog in NHL history to win the Stanley Cup, and he definitely deserves it.
